Friday 15th September 2023 marked the eighth meeting of the Vermont History Group. It was a fantastic opportunity to hear from guest Tim Shambrook, former local Councillor and author of the book ‘This is Vermont’ and to discuss as a group, various aspects of Vermont and Nunawading early history. The group enjoyed examining a wide collection of artefacts, photos, articles and books, many of which were kindly brought to showcase by Tim. This helped group members interpret some early photographs of the Vermont State School (when it was in Mt Pleasant) and locate the property and house in Boronia Road of early headmaster, John Brown. Discussion also covered Morack Road, the Vermont Secondary School and Vermont State School and the history of the properties on which the present schools now stand.
