Arthur James Heighton owned the cottage and property on which the Vermont Secondary School now stands. Joan Livermore, member of the Livermore family who owned and operated an orchard for many years in Morack Road, recalled finding native greenwood orchids growing on the property. For a period of time, the original cottage served as the Vermont Secondary School canteen. The cottage has since been demolished.
