According to an interview with Roy Anderson published in the Nunawading Gazette, the Anderson family had 60 or more acres circa 1900. By the time Roy was 20 years of age, they still held several large blocks, of 12 and 10 acres, despite rapid residential growth. (Nunawading Gazette, 14th July 1972 ‘Man who turned down ½ a million dollars').
Terrara Road According to an interview with Roy Anderson published in the Nunawading Gazette, Roy was trained as a blacksmith with his father and together, "they cleared the land [in Terrara Road] with Clydesdales and chains to rip out the stumps and then used a stump-jump plough to finish the job". (Nunawading Gazette, 14th July 1972 ‘Man who turned down ½ a million dollars'). The northern boundary of Roy Anderson's property in Terrara Road featured "a row of giant pine and cypress trees". The property also accommodated a disused fowl shed and some ancient ploughs. According to Roy Anderson, "between the two great wars, the Andersons grew flowers, using blackberry hedges as windbreaks and land markers". (Nunawading Gazette, 14th July 1972 ‘Man who turned down ½ a million dollars')
